APPOINTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEER

The C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) is a Public University established in 2019 by the CKT-UTAS Act 1000. The CKT-UTAS, which is located in Navrongo, Upper East Region, Ghana, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointment as Civil Engineer:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

An Applicant must be responsible for:

  1. Compute load and grade requirements and material stress to design specifications;
  2. Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards;
  3. Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site;
  4. Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction;
  5. Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labour to determine project feasibility;
  6. Test soils and materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalts or steel;
  7. Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs;
  8. Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards;
  9. Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site;
  10. Perform other functions as may be directed by the Director of Works and Physical Development.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

An Applicant must hold:

  1. Have an MPhil or a research master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering;
  2. Be a professional member of Ghana Institute of Engineers or a recognized professional body;
  3. Have a minimum of two years post qualification experience in a reputable practicising firm, industry, commerce and public service;
  4. Must be computer literate and conversant with structural engineering softwares;
  5. Show clear evidence of ability to hold schedules without supervision;
  6. Have handled projects independently.
