As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of the University, the CKT-UTAS Hospital, in collaboration with Friends Eye Center, Tamale, has organized a free eye screening exercise for the University Community and residents of the Navrongo Municipality.
The four-day event which started on Monday 12th and ended on Thursday 16th February 2023 witnessed a very high turnout at the designated venues, to wit, the Navropio Palace and the CKT-UTAS Hospital.
Patrons included the Overlord of the Navrongo Traditional Area Pe Dennis Balinia Adda Asagpare II and the Vice-Chancellor of CKT-UTAS, Professor Eric Magnus Wilmot.
While patients with minor problems were treated and discharged on the spot, those with major problems were booked for surgery to be conducted by a Team of Specialists. Professor Juventus Ziem, Dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry who also doubles as the Coordinator of the Outreach Programme, has hinted that the exercise will be extended to other towns and communities within the University’s catchment area.
The Friends Eye Center Team comprised Mr.Awudu Dramani (Team Lead), Mr. Alhassan Aliu Mohammed, and Mr.Zakaria Hamidu.
