A Board charged with the responsibility of coordinating graduate studies and research at the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences has been inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eric Magnus Wilmot. This was at a Ceremony held in the Council Chamber on Thursday 26th August, 2021.
The elated Vice-Chancellor commended the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research for the successes chalked so far, notwithstanding eminent challenges including inadequate logistics and a low number of staff. He tasked the Board to meet regularly to discuss and explore pressing issues in graduate education and post-doctoral training, as well as advise the Dean and advocate for changes to enable CKT-UTAS to compete favourably with other institutions of higher learning, and invariably improve the experiences of graduate students.
The Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research and Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board, Prof. Mohammed Muniru Iddrisu expressed gratitude to University Management for the steps taken which culminated in the laying of a solid foundation for the smooth continuation of existing graduate programmes, and the introduction of new ones. He enumerated numerous projects and/or activities undertaken by the School including the formation of a Research Committee, training of faculty members in grantsmanship, and the formation of a consortium with two institutions in Kenya namely Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), and the Center for Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) for purposes of collaborative research.
Membership of the Board includes Deans and Representatives of various Faculties and Schools.
