About Us

The C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) was established by an Act of Parliament ACT 1000(2019) which came into effect on the 27th Day of May 2021.

CKT-UTAS was named after a Ghanaian Politician, Patriot and Statesman, Clement Kubindewor Tedam from the royal family of Paga in the Upper East Region of Ghana.

The mandate of the University as spelt out in the parent Act is to Disseminate Knowledge related to Theory and Practical Development in Integrated Technology and Applied Sciences.

The Governing Council and Management Team of the newly established CKT-UTAS were inaugurated amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Professor Gordon Awandare, Professor Eric Magnus Wilmot, Dr V.A. Ankamah-Lomotey and Mr. Anaamoatulim Anab are the founding Governing Council Chairman, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and Director of Finance respectively.

Prior to gaining autonomous status, CKT-UTAS was one of four campuses of the University for Development Studies (UDS). As a campus, it housed the Faculty of Integrated Development Studies (FIDS), 1994-2002, the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS), 2002, the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences (FMS), 2009 and the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences (FEES), 2017.

However, the School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS), was carved out of the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences in 2020 under the newly established CKT-UTAS.

At its Maiden Matriculation Ceremony held on Saturday 6th February 2021, Two Hundred, and Forty-Nine (249) students enrolled for various Diploma programmes while Five Hundred and Ninety-Five (595) and Three Hundred and Thirty-One (331) students enrolled for various Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes respectively.
