In barely five years of transitioning from a campus to an autonomous university, the C. K. Tedam University of Technology & Applied Sciences has braved the storm to book a place in the league of outstanding universities in Ghana. It has been adjudged the 10th best university in Ghana in 2025 by AD Scientific Index on the basis of its total H-index.
This follows a comprehensive evaluation by the highly reputed ranking system, which offers insights into the performance and global competitiveness of Ghana’s universities.
By achieving this enviable feat, CKT-UTAS stands out as one of the very few emerging universities making strides in research and education and demonstrating an unrelenting quest to compete with traditional powerhouses within Ghana’s higher education sub-sector.
Reacting to the news of this groundbreaking milestone, the Vice-Chancellor of CKT-UTAS, Prof. Albert Luguterah praised the sterling efforts of faculty members which culminated in the unprecedented success story of a young but vibrant research-based institution of higher education.
“I celebrate our hardworking staff and faculty members who continue to make us proud in the wake of daunting challenges.” Prof. Luguterah remarked. He further expressed optimism in the University’s ability to bag more laurels in the foreseeable future.
The H-index, otherwise known as the Hirsch index is an author-level metric that measures both the productivity and citation impact of the publications of an individual scientist or scholar.
It correlates with success indicators such as winning the Nobel Peace Prize, being accepted for research fellowships, and holding positions at top universities. The index has most recently been applied to the productivity and impact of a scholarly journal as well as a group of scientists, such as a department, university, or country.
