We are exhilarated to announce that Dr. Rita Suhuyini Salifu of the School of Public Health (CKTUTAS) has been awarded the prestigious ASA Postdoctoral Research Grant (ÂŁ50,000 pounds), administered through the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and funded by the Wellcome Trust.

Dr. Salifu’s groundbreaking research proposal, titled “Assessing the Burden of Snakebite Envenomation on Women’s Livelihoods in Rural Fringe Communities along the Mole National Park, Savannah Region, Ghana: Socioeconomic, Health, and Conservation Implications,” will explore the complex impact of snakebite envenomation on women’s health and economic resilience in rural Ghana.

Her work will provide critical insights into how snakebites affect household livelihoods, community wellbeing, and local conservation efforts, highlighting an often-overlooked public health and development issue.
