Under the auspices of the Centre for International Students and Scholars, the Ghanaian European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development has held an info session on educational and employment opportunities in Europe for faculty, staff and students of the C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences.
Welcoming the Ghanaian European Centre Team and Participants, the Vice-Chancellor of C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Professor Albert Luguterah noted that the University prides itself in its graduates and thus, desire to see CKT-UTAS Alumni everywhere across the globe impacting positively on society.
“We are deeply committed to fostering academic and professional growth, ensuring that our students and staff are well-equipped for the ever-evolving global landscape,” Professor Luguterah assured. He added that “This session represents a significant opportunity to engage, learn and explore pathways in education and employment. As we navigate the challenges and possibilities of migration it is essential that we equip ourselves with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed decisions that will shape our future.”
Delivering insights into educational and employment opportunities, Mr. Dennis Benneh Diawno, Technical Advisor at the European Centre disclosed that in 2023, Europe recorded labour shortages in such fields as Construction, Engineering, Healthcare and Medical Professions, Information Technology and Software Development and Education and Research.
He also enlightened participants on educational migration in Europe with a focus on higher education opportunities in Germany delivered through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which has recorded an unprecedented scholarship award recipients of One Million, Ninety Thousand (1,090,000) since 1950.
Participants, mostly students, had the opportunity to seek clarification on the main themes of the info session, especially those related to visa requirements, academic qualification for Masters and Doctoral programmes and living and working in Europe.
Turning his attention to institutional collaboration, Mr. Benneh hinted that CKT-UTAS could leverage on the International Credit Mobility facility to create synergies with the aim to enhance the research and professional skills of faculty and staff, build organizational capacity, facilitate exchange programmes for students and generally access more funding opportunities and projects.
Other speakers at the event included Professor Melvin-Guy Adonadaga, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research who also doubles as the Erasmus Institutional Coordinator for CKT-UTAS, and Naa Prof. Moses Bukari, Head, Centre for International Students and Scholars, both of whom played instrumental roles in the success of the programme.
