He also praised the pioneering role of the maiden Governing Council, as well as Management, Faculty, Staff, and Students, which laid a solid foundation for a smooth transition from a campus with three faculties to an autonomous university with ten (10) schools in 5 years.
This transition also witnessed the introduction of newly developed demand-driven programmes and an exponential growth in student numbers.
“It is also worth mentioning that during the period under review, CKT-UTAS made impressive strides that catapulted us into the league of outstanding universities locally and globally. Notably, our young but promising university was ranked 10th among the best universities in Ghana for 2025 by the AD Scientific Index.
This ranking is based on the University’s total H-index, a measure of academic productivity and impact. Representative of the President, distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, the H-Index Matrix is arguably the most effective tool for establishing academic prowess and correlates with success indicators such as winning the Nobel Peace Prize. By achieving this enviable feat, CKT-UTAS stands out as one of the very few emerging universities making strides in research and education and demonstrating an unrelenting quest to compete with traditional powerhouses within Ghana’s higher education eco-system.” Professor Kendie added.
Addressing the graduating students, Professor Albert Luguterah, Vice-Chancellor of CKT-UTAS, stated emphatically that University Management remained resolute in the quest to foster innovation among staff and students to positively impact society and strategically transform CKT-UTAS into a world-class learning environment, driven by ethical research and academic excellence. He touted numerous milestones chalked in the University’s 5-year transition from a campus to an autonomous institution of higher learning.
Notable among these are remarkable collaborations forged with renowned institutions such as the Ghana Health Service, Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, which transformative alliances are designed to revolutionalise medical education and health care delivery across the Country.
“As a result, we are on track to launch our own medical school, with the first cohort of students to begin in September this year or by January 2026.” Professor Luguterah assured. “Our students also continue to make us proud-clinching the national title in the ENACTUS Innovative and Entrepreneurial Championship for the fourth consecutive year and representing Ghana at the World competition.” Professor Luguterah stated.
He went on to celebrate CKT-UTAS’s unprecedented ranking among the top ten universities in Ghana for 2025 by the AD Scientific Index. The Vice-Chancellor concluded his address with a call on the graduands to be guided by honesty, hard work, humility, and continuous learning in their quest to make a positive impact on the larger society.
