AFFILIATES OF ECOWAS HALL WOO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

As part of activities marking their Hall Week Celebration, a group of Affiliates of ECOWAS Hall led by Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Gyasi has organized a Day’s Seminar aimed at whipping up enthusiasm among second cycle students to make CKT-UTAS their first choice of university for further studies.

The Seminar themed “Bring Them In” attracted participants from Awe Senior High School and Notre Dame Seminary Senior High School in Navrongo. It was held in the CKT-UTAS Multi-purpose Auditorium on Wednesday 17th August 2022.

Speaking on the topic “Positive Activism and Radicalism on Campus,” the Pro Vice-Chancellor of CKT-UTAS, Professor Albert Luguterah noted that the university statutes guaranteed free speech, expression, and advocacy but equally required those exercising such rights, to do so responsibly. He acknowledged the contributions of student leaders to the discourse on matters of national interest.

Prof. Luguterah stated further that profitable, relevant extra circular activities lead to the development of skills. “Jobs done by most graduates fall outside their fields of study. Extra-curricular activities help develop skills in other areas,” he added. He further entreated students to be Agents of positive change and great Ambassadors of their universities and university education.

On his part, the Registrar of CKT-UTAS, Dr V. A. Ankamah-Lomotey commended the ECOWAS Hall Team for the great effort made in marketing CKT-UTAS and added that the university had carved a niche in mathematics and computing, which made it a university of choice for participants. The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ohene Boansi Apea reiterated the need for students to be disciplined and remain focused on their academic endeavours.

Also present at the Ceremony was Mr. Abdul-Majeed Yussif, Acting Head, Marketing and Events Management, Mr. Anontera Clement of Awe SHS and Mr. Fuseini Suleman, Branch Manager, Fidelity Bank, Bolgatanga.
