In accordance with the provisions of the C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences Act (Act 1000), a reconstituted Governing Council has been inaugurated by the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, at a brief but colourful ceremony held in Accra.
The previous Council was dissolved in compliance with the Presidential (Transition) Act 2012 (Act 845). Among other things, the Governing Council would provide strategic direction for the University with a view to positioning it to effectively execute its mandate of training high-caliber graduates capable of transforming society, and competing favourably within the higher education eco-system locally and globally.
While challenging the newly sworn-in Governing Council to live up to expectations, the Hon. Minister hinted that the Government was taking steps to rename the C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences and many others across the Country. This decision, he noted, was reached after “extensive consultations with the academic community, traditional rulers, alumni associations, students, and civil societies.”
