Management of CKT-UTAS Pays a Courtesy Call on the Upper East Regional Minister

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Luguterah on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 led a delegation of Senior Management of the University to pay a courtesy call on the Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Donatus Atanga Akamugri in his office at the Regional Coordinating Council.

The courtesy call was to extend a word of congratulations to him on his appointment as the Regional Minister and the election and subsequent swearing-in of H. E. John Dramani Mahama as President of the Republic of Ghana.

The Vice-Chancellor took the opportunity to talk about the University’s mandate and assured the Regional Minister, CKT-UTAS was well positioned and had capable staff and ready to play a part in the reset agenda of the Government as well as the developmental agenda the Regional Minister envisaged for the Region.

On behalf of his Management Team, Prof. Luguterah briefly talked about the infrastructural deficit the University is faced with and requested for another opportunity with the Regional Minister and his Team to further elaborate on the subject matter.

The Regional Minister on his part welcomed CKT-UTAS Management to his office. He seized the opportunity to express his gratitude to Ghanaians for giving the NDC a landslide victory in the December, 2024 elections. He assured the Team, institutions like CKT-UTAS will definitely have a role to play in the reset agenda of the Government. He indicated that it was the duty of government to create an enabling platform for all institutions (both public and private), to contribute their quota to the development of the country.

The Regional Minister informed the Vice-Chancellor and his Team about the President’s intended “thank you tour” visit to the Upper East Region and hinted that visits to some tertiary institutions such as CKT-UTAS would form part of the agenda. He entreated University Management, to utilize the opportunity of the President’s visit to highlight the challenges of the University for redress.

The Regional Minister further advised University Management to forge collaborations with sister institutions and other stake holders of the University to advance the course of the University and the region as a whole.

He assured the CKT-UTAS Team that his doors are always opened for discussions on issues concerning the University and would not hesitate to accept invitations to important university functions anytime he was available.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Team included Prof. Samson A. Abagale (Pro Vice-Chancellor), Mr. Gilbert Ansoglenang (Registrar), Mr. Anaamoatulim Anab (Director of Finance), Dr. Sephen Delle Donpaala (Ag. Director, Internal Audit Directorate), Mr. Nicholas Soyiri, Esq. (University Lawyer), and Mr. Alexander Akumbuno, (Head, Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat).
