Professor Albert Luguterah, Vice-Chancellor of the C. K. Tedam University of Technology & Applied Sciences, has implored freshmen and Women admitted into the University for the 2024/2025 Academic Year to “strive to leave an incredible mark on society.”
These were contained in a speech he delivered at the 5th Matriculation Ceremony of the University, held on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
A total of 1,389 applicants (comprising 1,081 undergraduate and 308 postgraduate applicants) accepted the offer of admission out of a pool of 2,758 applicants. The elated Vice-Chancellor also announced that in the 2023/2024 Academic Year, the University received accreditation to run BSc. General Nursing, BSc. Pediatric Nursing and BSc. Medical Laboratory Science programmes.
“I am happy to say that this year, we have also received professional accreditation to run the BSc. Midwifery programme which we will be admitting students into very soon,” he added.
The newly admitted junior members were also assured of a holistic education where student interest is prioritised, critical thinking and innovation underpins the University’s pedagogy, and students are equipped to make a positive impact on society after their studies.
Turning his attention to infrastructure, the Vic-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Navrongo Health Research Center (NHRC) for their continuous support in providing laboratory space and facilities for CKT-UTAS Students as well as for their commitment to support the renovation of the building that houses the School of Public Health.
He made a passionate appeal to the Government of Ghana to complete all GETFund projects on campus and to consider the peculiar infrastructural deficit that has bedeviled CKT-UTAS when allocating resources. “As a Technology and Applied Sciences University, well-equipped laboratories for practical work and simulation are essential,” Professor Luguterah observed.
