A pilot Innovation Process Management Training was introduced for students at CKT-UTAS to equip them with skills aligned with their career and professional goals. Organized as an extracurricular activity, the training was overseen by Prof. Ohene Boansi Apea, Dean of Student Affairs.
More than 100 students applied, with 20 selected as the pioneering cohort. To avoid disruptions to the academic calendar, the training was strategically divided into two six-week sessions, held during the first and second semesters.
Prof. Ohene Boansi Apea, Dean of Student Affairs, explained that the training provided students with hands-on experience in proposal and grant writing, team building, and entrepreneurship empowerment. Additionally, students participated in field visits to various institutions, where they proposed solutions to real-world challenges.
These field experiences were specifically designed to prepare students for the practical aspects of Innovation Process Management, equipping them with the skills necessary to excel in their future careers.
During the certificate presentation ceremony, CKT-UTAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Luguterah, expressed gratitude to the Dean of Students and his team for the successful execution of the program, commending their dedication and hard work. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the pioneering group of students, emphasizing that the skills they gained are essential for navigating the competitive job market.
Professor Luguterah highlighted the importance of CKT-UTAS graduates standing out by embracing innovation and technology to address the world’s evolving developmental challenges. Out of the 20 students selected, 19 completed the training, each receiving a certificate of participation and a certificate of honour for their outstanding projects.
