The 27th edition of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) games is scheduled to take place from 4th-19th November 2022 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus in Kumasi.
The Competition which will feature a host of sporting disciplines such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, and athletics will attract participation from fourteen (14) public universities in Ghana.
In the light of this, the Sports Section led by Senior Sports Coach Jude D. Nayasama, under the auspices of the Sports Committee has organized a number of preparatory sessions in four disciplines namely, soccer, athletics, basketball, and volleyball with a view to select a Team for each discipline so as to enable CKT-UTAS to compete favorably in her maiden appearance at the GUSA Games.
The week-long event dubbed “1st Inter-Group Sports Competition” held from Monday 15th – Saturday 20th August 2022 witnessed a display of talent by students in various sporting disciplines.
Soccer and Volleyball (Men) recorded keen contests; Groups Green and Yellow played the final game in soccer which ended in a stalemate (3-3), but the boys were finally separated from the men when Team Green won 4-2 against Team Yellow on penalties.
Team Red locked horns with Team Blue for the 3rd place in soccer, with a 2-2 score at the end of 90 minutes. Team Red eventually won 5-3 on penalties.
In the cross country (Men and Women) competition held on 20th August 2022 on a distance of 10km for all, Mr. Musah Muniru, a Level 200 Diploma in Computer Science Student run 35 minutes, 14 seconds, 08 nanoseconds to place first in the men division while Ms. Belinda Akature a level 200 B.Sc Statistics student was 1st in the women category having covered the total distance of 10km in 47 minutes.
Trophies were presented to deserving Teams and individuals by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Luguterah, and the Registrar Dr. V. A. Ankamah-Lomotey both of whom took turns to commend the Sports Section for organizing the competition and encouraged the sportsmen and women to put in extra effort to lift high the flag of CKT-UTAS during the GUSA games.
