The CKT-UTAS Chapter of Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (WiSTEM) as part of its activities for the year 2023 donated writing materials to students of St Mary’s Girls’ Primary School, Navrongo.
The event took place on 29th November 2023 at the school premises. The packaged learning material including pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners was distributed to students by WiSTEM CKT-UTAS members and teachers. The purpose of the donation was to support the students in their upcoming End of Term Examinations.
Dr. Francisca Achaliwie, who attended the same school during her basic school years, took the opportunity to share her personal experience which added a special touch to the event. Her success story will serve as an inspiration to the students, showcasing that they too can pursue and excel in STEM fields.
Members also took brief turns to introduce their areas of specialization to the students to create awareness of the various STEM career options available to them in future.
Overall, this initiative not only provides practical support to students but also serves as a platform to inspire and motivate them to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
This reflects a commitment to nurturing the next generation of STEM professionals and creating awareness about the diverse opportunities within these fields.
