ADMISSION INTO M.PHIL./PH.D IN INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND IMMUNOLOGY PROGRAMME IN THE 2023/2024 ACADEMIC YEAR

Applications are invited for admission into M.Phil./Ph.D in Infectious Diseases and Immunology programme of the School of Medical Sciences. C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS).

Admission Requirements

Master of Philosophy in Infectious Diseases and Immunology

The following minimum qualifications and conditions must be met before applicants are admitted into the Master of Philosophy in Infectious Diseases and Immunology Programme:

1. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree with at least, Second Class Lower or better in the following fields:

• • Infectious Diseases and Immunology
  • Immunology
  • Parasitology
  • Bacteriology
  • Mycology
  • Microbiology
  • Biochemistry
  • Biological Sciences
  • Laboratory Medicine
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Health/Medical Sciences or related fields/sub-fields and
  • Other relevant areas of study

2. Also, applicants who hold postgraduate diploma degrees in related fields in addition to a first degree may apply.
3. Holders of a Master of Science degree without research may also apply for a top-up, which will afford them the opportunity to carry out extended research leading to the award of a Master of Philosophy in Infectious Diseases and Immunology degree.
4. Applicants with foreign certificates shall be required to get them verified by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) before they are accepted into the programme.
5. Each applicant shall be required to submit a concept paper on his/her proposed research topic.
6. In addition, all applicants shall be required to submit one reference letter from an academic referee and must demonstrate the ability to fund the programme.
7. All applicants would be required to attend a pre-selection interview scheduled for January 15, 2024.
8. The ability to demonstrate an excellent understanding and comprehension of the English language would be an added advantage.

 Doctor of Philosophy Infectious Diseases and Immunology

The following minimum qualifications and conditions must be met before applicants are admitted into the Doctor of Philosophy in Infectious Diseases and Immunology Programme:

1. Applicants with a master’s degree or its equivalent from CKT-UTAS and other recognised institutions in the following areas are encouraged to apply.

  • Parasitology
  • Bacteriology
  • Mycology
  • Microbiology
  • Biochemistry
  • Biological Sciences
  • Laboratory Medicine
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Health/Medical Sciences or related fields/sub-fields and
  • Other relevant areas of study

2. Furthermore, each applicant would be required to submit a concept paper on his/her proposed research topic and shall be required to attend a pre‐selection interview scheduled for January 15, 2024.
3. In addition, all applicants shall be required to submit two (2) reference letters from two academic referees and must demonstrate the ability to fund the programme.
4. Applicants with foreign certificates shall be required to get them verified by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) before they are accepted into the programme.
5. The ability of an applicant to demonstrate an excellent understanding and comprehension of the English language would be an added advantage.
